During the first sequence of 11 on 11 drills, Ovie Mughelli ran with the first unit as action began on the defense’s 15 yard line. The plays are scripted here and the down and distance do not always correspond to the actual yardage gained or lost on any play.
1-10-15: McNair screen pass intended for Derrick Mason deflected at LOS, incomplete
2-08-13: Behind solid protection, McNair to Jamal Lewis for 2 yards

3-03-08: Cory Ross, 4 yard run for first down

2-07-10: Daniels out of I formation behind Justin Green, 2 yards
3-05-08: Boller to Daniels incomplete broken up by Mike Smith; Billick to Boller: “Got to lead him.”
The team then launched into the 2 minute drill with the clock set at 1:30 and the ball on the Ravens own 35 yard line:
1-10-35: McNair to Clayton, 12 yards
1-10-47: McNair to Wilcox, 8 yards

1-10-50: Boller sacked, loss of 8 (46 seconds)
2-18-42: Boller’s pass incomplete

4-06-34: Elling FGA Missed from 51
Shortly after a special teams punt return drill that didn’t sit well with Frank Gansz, Jr. (“That was absolute [expletive] horses&*t”), the offense and defense engaged in some 7 on 7 drills, dominated by the defense. As the defense took the field Ray Lewis chanted, “If we’re walking we ain’t working.” Several times McNair and Boller had to throw away or eat the ball when receivers all over the field were covered. McNair’s frustrations were obvious although he did throw a great touch pass to Heap just beyond the reach of Lewis and in front of the converging safety. Later during 7 on 7’s Quinn Sypniewski blatantly pushed off on Dawan Landry drawing criticism from Brian Billick. Landry during the same sequence made an outstanding deflection of a Kyle Boller pass intended for Demetrius Williams. Landry dove and was fully extended to break up the nicely thrown ball from Boller.
After 7 on 7’s the team went live with the first offense starting out against the second team defense:
1-10-15: Daniels 9 yard run
2-01-24: Daniels no gain
3-01-24: Ross loss of 2 (Mike Smith penetrating nicely for the tackle with deserved props from Billick)
1-10-25: McNair to Ross, 12 yards
1-10-37: Ross no gain
2-10-37: McNair to Clayton (incomplete…dropped by Clayton)
3-10-37: McNair to Clayton 10 yards
1-10-47: (No. 2 offense v. No. 1 defense) Ross 3 yards
2-07-50: Ross gain of 4 ended with a huge hit from Ray Lewis that knocked Ross’ helmet off
3-03-46: Daniels 17 yard run
1-10-29: Boller pass 6 yards
2-04-23: Daniels 3 yard run
3-01-20: Ross 3 yard run (end of practice)
Other observations: Leo Araguz was a bit more consistent today than Sam Koch; Reed has been chatty, communicative and generally embracing the role of leader in the secondary; Clayton as stated was back in action and exhibits a youthful exuberance that could be contagious if he can stay on the field; Demetrius Williams ran well and seems to have rebounded from his hamstring ailment although his timing and solid hands that we’ve seen so far in camp were both a bit off.
