GAME THREAD - 2007 Preseason #1 - Eagles

Welcome back boys and girls. We'll have running commentary and PBP in this thread, as much as we can keep up with all the random numbers. Hope you enjoy this debut vs. the Eagles, and GO RAVENS! :jester:

Back for the start of the preseason. Sadly only radio for me today as far as broadcasts go. So I hope you keep me up to date :)

2nd and 1, give to Westbrook, maybe a tiny gain. Probably enough for a first.

1st, delay of game, good noise by the crowd for preseason.
1st and 15, from the 29, shotgun handoff to Westbrook, gain of 2-3.
2nd and 12, Feeley goes deep for Brown and overthrows it out of bounds. There was a pocket where he'd be open, and a good throw would have made it..that wasn't.
3rd and 12, Barnes comes in, Ray MISSES THE SACK on Feeley, he scrambles forward, gets 6-7, and goes down. Very crazy miss by Ray.

Punt downed at the 6.

1st and 10 from the 7, play action, complete to Heap, gain of 9-10. McNair had serious pressure, might have gotten hit. First down!

1st, straight dropback, swing over to Sypniewski, gain of about 3.
2nd and 7, I back toss to McGahee, gain of 1.
3rd and 6, shotgun, toss to a wide open D-Will, gets about 12-13 and a first!

1st from the 31, give to McGahee off tackle, gain of 17 and a first! NICE BURST!

1st from the 45, toss fake to McGahee, Heap releases from the block as McNair bootlegs, gets the catch, eludes a tackle, and goes to the Eagles 30! HUGE PLAY.

1st, PA, McNair to a wide open Heap, slightly overthrown.
2nd and 10, I form, McGahee off tackle, gets 1. Nice quickness by the Eagles D to stuff the hole.
3rd and 9, shotgun, complete to Mason, inside the 10, first down! 22 yard pass.

1st, Sypniewski as the H back, McGahee straight up the middle, maybe 1 or 2. He comes out of the game.
2nd and goal from the 6, straight dropback, McNair gets hit as he throws it away.
3rd and goal from the 6, complete to Sypniewski, TOUCHDOWN RAVENS!!!

NICE FIRST DRIVE! Gotta love that!

2nd and 11, complete to Brown on McAlister's side, gain of 6 and wrestled OOB.
3rd and 5, 4-5 man blitz comes, Suggs gets up and bats down the pass! Nice play.

As I suspected, Boller takes over.
1st from the 33, handoff to Musa, stopped in the backfield for a loss of 2.
2nd and 12, delayed handoff to Musa, picks up 5-6.
3rd and 6, shotgun, Terry's man jumps up and bats down the pass. Terry needs to get more aggressive on his guy.

Great punt, downed at the 23-24.

1st, give to Buckhalter, Haley stops in the backfield for a loss of 2. Nice penetration.

That should end the first quarter.

I heard a clip on the pregame show from. He sounded like a beaten guy already. Really down etc....

As far as the game. Can't beat a 93 yd TD drive for the 1st drive of the year.

Saw a little of what McGahee can give us.

Love the 3rd down conversions.

Gaither is gonna be a STEAL.

And Barnes just made a GREAT move for a sack.

2nd and 12, 2nd team D is in, Barnes SACKS Holcomb for a loss of 10!! He totally screwed the RT and slipped right in.
3rd and 22, complete to Buckhalter, missed tackle, but still comes up 8 yards short. Penalty on the Eagles OL, but its declined. Or now accepted? Wtf.
3rd and 27ish, Buckhalter stopped at the 4 yard line. Now they'll punt really deep. Nice wrapup by Dwan Edwards.

Sams takes it inside the Eagles 40.

1st from the 37, PA, overthrown for Sypniewski. Boller's first 2 throws are rough. Though that first was on Terry not holding his man.
2nd, slant to Clayton for 4-5.
3rd and 5, Boller's pass over the middle batted down at the line again. Ugly. He's getting plenty of time.

Stover on for a 50 yard try... its good! 10-0.

2nd and 11, false start.
2nd and 16, screen to Buckhalter, gain of 5. Ravens read the screen REALLY well. They were blitzing, and then just totally reversed course and covered the RB. I have never seen anything like that before. Dwan Edwards looks good!
3rd and 11, Holcomb SACKED by Prude! Coverage sack probably, but back at the Eagles 45.

Figurs fair catch at around the 20. Contact was made, but no call.

1st, McClain in, PA, Boller gets ROCKED as he throws, ball can't get to his man, mainly because of defensive holding. First down.

2nd and 1, PA, and WHAT PURSUIT by Burgess to get a loss of 6 and a sack on Holcomb! GREAT TACKLE. This kid is gonna be GOOD. Adalius Thomas, who needs em?

2nd and 7, Ravens miss a lot of tackles on Celek, gets down to around the 8. 30+ yard gain. Jarret Johnson goes for the deflection and misses the tackle.

2nd and goal from the 5, overthrown for Avon.
3rd and goal from the 5, fade for Baskett in the back of the endzone, but Martin and Blackshire have him blanketed, and it was closer to a pick than a TD.

When the game action stops, can you give me a quick ( one sentence summary ) of how the OLINE has played, because that has, and still is my biggest question going into this season.

1st from the 24, Ross loses 2 bouncing outside.
2nd and 12, PA, overthrows Ross on the screen, He looks jumpy with those guys in his face. Jitters.
3rd and long, shotgun, waits a couple seconds, and jukes his way up the middle for 13 and a first. Gotta love that escapability.

OL has looked pretty good. Especially Gaither. Terry has been weak.

1st from the 36, Ross for 2.
2nd and 9, false start.
2nd and 14, delayed handoff to Ross, gain of 5.
3rd and 9, slant to Figurs incomplete. Wouldn't have gotten a first.

3rd and 7, pass dropped by Figurs. Really unimpressive night from him.

Gaither is just dominating. Punt downed at the 35.

2nd, Barnes gets right in the backfield, Kolb gets away with a grounding, very close to a sack.
3rd and 10, Winbourne plays a great ball, and almost deflects it up for a pick. Prude was inches away. Nice defense.

Gaither gets a rest, and Yanda comes in at RT.

1st from the 13, Ross BUSTS OUTSIDE and gets to the 37!! Great block from Grubbs! It was really perfect.

1st from the 36, Troy goes over the top for Figurs, way overthrown. Almost looked like a throw away.
2nd, complete to Moore, right at the first down marker, and he got it.

1st from the 46, Ross goes right for 2.
2nd and 8, PA, little dump to Freeman who goes for 18 and a first. Nice run to stay in bounds by the rookie.

1st from the Eagles 32, Ross goes left for 1.
2nd and 9, pass too high for Willis, but he almost brought it down.
3rd, Smith eludes about 4 tacklers, and then goes deep, way too deep. Incomplete. A big blitz there. He has good pocket presence, but he has to work on that touch.

Stover good again from 50. He's still got it.

I am very pleased with how Gaithers is playing. In 1-2 years, he should be an amazing player with the type of progress he is making.

I am a little down aboutYamon Figurs. Let's hope he realizes to absorb a football, and catch it in his finger tips.

3rd and 5, Kolb completes to Celek for 12. He looks pretty good.

2nd and 10, Kolb fumbles at midfield, and Prude picks it up! Raven ball!

3rd and 2, massive pressure on Smith, has to throw it away. Good job to avoid the sack.

Figurs gets tackled really nicely, but he just doesn't look quick tonight. Ineligible downfield on the Eagles. Rekick.

Figurs falls down at midfield. He really looks unimpressive. Personal foul on the Eagles.

1st, Olson comes in, PA, Olson fumbles, McClain jumps on it at the 40. Well, this guy isn't showing much.
2nd and 13, quick pass to Willis, gain of 2.
3rd and 11, I spoke too soon, pretty pass to a WIDE OPEN Ballantyne for 33 down to the 5! Pruitt picked up the blitz really well. Also don't know how he got that open.

This team looks extremely well prepared.

No major blown assignments.

Of course there are a few penalties but that's to be expected.

GAME IN REVIEW

The Good:

We're fucking awesome. And no Ravens got hurt (best wishes for Ryan Moats of the Eagles).

The Bad:

Some guys who aren't gonna make the team dropped a few passes.

The Ugly:

Terrell Suggs.

Could not have been a better way to reintroduce us all to RAVENS FOOTBALL.
